2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Ten - April 28

Tuesday April 29, 2008

Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.

Joe Johnson and the Atlanta Hawks Take Down the Boston Celtics Again

Boston Celtics 92, Atlanta Hawks 97 @ Atlanta / Box Score

Can you believe this? The Hawks are raising their game at the right time and have now beat the Celtics, owners of the best overall record in the Association during the regular season, twice in a row. Granted, the victories came on their homecourt, but I don't think anyone outside of the Hawks' organization thought they would have beat the might Celtics two games in a row and be headed back to Boston with a tied series. Well, it's happened and you can mostly thank Joe Johnson (35 points in Game Four; 20 of them in the fourth quarter) and Josh Smith (28 points and seven blocks) for their performances in the ATL. Series tied 2-2.

Toronto Raptors 92, Orlando Magic 102 @ Orlando / Box Score

The series is over and you can thank Dwight Howard for a lot of it. Last night, Howard achieved his third 20-20 effort in the five games played in the series. He went for 21 points and 21 boards, as well as three blocks. Offseason acquisition Rashard Lewis added 18 points and point guard Jameer Nelson contributed 19 points to help end this first round series. The Magic will now take on the winner of the Philadelphia 76ers/Detroit Pistons series. Magic win series 4-1.

Los Angeles Lakers 107, Denver Nuggets 101 @ Denver / Box Score

Can anyone stop the Lakers out in the West? The Nuggets couldn't that's for sure as the Lakers swept the playoff series and actually made it look easy in beating a team that won 50 games in the regular season. Lakers win series 4-0.
