2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Sixteen - May 4

Monday May 5, 2008

Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.

Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics move on

Atlanta Hawks 65, Boston Celtics 99 @ Boston / Box Score

It was a physical game at certain points, but it was all Celtics in the all-important Game Seven of this series in Beantown. The Celts move on to the second round to face the Cleveland Cavaliers whom they split the regular season series, 2-2, with both teams winning their home games. Speaking of which, luckily the Celtics have homecourt advantage once again because thus far, it seems it's the only way they can win. A road victory at Cleveland would go a long way in re-solidifying their dominance because the Hawks made the Celtics look vulnerable. Celtics win series 4-3.

Utah Jazz 98, Los Angeles Lakers 109 @ Los Angeles / Box Score

Kobe Bryant showed why he will eventually be named the regular season MVP as he simply dominated in the first half of play and continued to do so, but in an overall sense in the second half. The Lakers are making it look easy thus far in the postseason and it all begins with Kobe, his faith in his teammates, and Bryant's natural abilities. Lakers lead series 1-0.
