2008 NBA Playoffs - Day Thirty-One - May 20
Here at About.com, we'll be following each day of the 2008 NBA Playoffs - nothing too in-depth with these posts, but a bit of a recap that gives a couple of brief sentences or so, the final results, as well as links to the boxscore.

Eastern Conference Final - Game One
Detroit Pistons 79, Boston Celtics 88 @ Boston / Box Score
For all of you old school NBA fans like me, are you wondering where Isiah Thomas, Vinny Johnson, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer, and John Salley - as well as - Dennis Johnson, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, and Danny Ainge are? Well, most are still involved in the NBA, but they're not playing in this series. However, there is still a touch of rivalry despite the Pistons being consistently good for awhile and the Celtics being good, well, this season.
Game One saw The Big Ticket, Kevin Garnett, step up big-time to show why adding him to a team that was in the lottery just a season before makes a big difference. However, it did help that Mr. Big Shot, Chauncey Billups, had an off-game only shooting six times and hitting on three attempts for only nine points. It'll be interesting to see how he does when he's game is back on. In any case, the Celtics held homecourt, which isn't too surprising since their only postseason wins have come in Boston. They are now 9-0 on their own court and if they ever only win at home, they'll bring back the pride of Boston basketball with an NBA championship! Celtics lead series 1-0.
