Mike: Noooo, it's true, I am "basketball nerd." Haha. But, it could be worse... I could be a fantasy basketball nerd.

Dennis: Ouch! That hurts, man. Don't hate on a brother from another mother. You're going to make me cry. Haha. Okay, back to business. We've talked about possible player movement, how about a quick look at those players that did move as free agents during the offseason since we can look back now. What has been the worst signing?

Mike: When it comes to offseason moves nothing is worse than the Hornets signing Peja Stojakovic to a five-year $60 million contract. Now that's All-Star money for an often injured 29 year old. Peja is likely out for the remainder of the season as you mentioned, and what did the Hornets get out of their major offseason move? A 17.8 ppg average in 13 games.

Dennis: But, here's the thing... the Hornets knew that Peja still had some nagging back problems. If you ask me, they took the risk and they shouldn't be surprised that this happened. All that money? I'd rather take a risk elsewhere. But, I do understand that there was limited pickings, but still. Injury concerns = money wasted.

Mike: The Nuggets kind of took the same risk when they signed Nene for $60 million. They're both known for their injuries, but if you're going to take a risk, I guess you should take it on a former All-Star instead of a "potential" player.

Dennis: Agreed. That was a ridiculous amount of money that the Nuggs paid Nene. But, again, there was limited pickings. Okay, let's wrap it up with our usual words of wisdom to end this chat. Go ahead, M.C. Mike.

Mike: I hope none of our readers are upset about Dennis making fun of "basketball nerds." If you've read to this point, the chances are that you too are a "basketball nerd," who spends his hours at work reading every article imagineable before going home to watch the Hawks play the Bobcats on League Pass, knowing the game means absolutely nothing. But it's okay to be a "basketball nerd." Right, D?

Dennis: No, we're all losers.

Mike: Hahaha. Okay, on that note, I think we're done. Say good night, Dennis.

Dennis: Good night, Dennis. Catch you all back here at The Basketball Chat next week!
