It's that time - the time for all the prognosticators to whip out their prediction caps and mock this year's NBA Draft! Which college and international players will be drafted in the first round and where will they call their NBA home for the 2007-08 season? Which NBA teams will simply add to their talent pool and which ones will fill specific needs? Check the list below - a work in progress, much like NBA scouts evaluations until the big day, June 28th at Madison Square Garden.
Also, if an underclassman that has declared for the NBA Draft feels like he's not ready for the NBA or more precisely, teams do not think he's ready, they will have an option of going back to school if they did not sign with an agent. The deadline for withdrawal is June 18th. Some notable players who have opted out after declaring are Roy Hibbert from Georgetown and Brandon Rush from Kansas.
In any case, as a teenager, myself and my best friend at the time, Rich Chmela would mock every NBA Draft and have a bet to see who could get the most correct picks. Of course, the joy wasn't the reward for winning the bet, but projecting and doing the research as to what type of player a team needs and which players would fit in best. Who would have known that a couple of decades later I'd still be doing the same thing. Check out the NBA Mock Draft I came up with for 2007 - 2007 NBA First Round Mock Draft.
