NBA Draft Player Profile - Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah

By Dennis Velasco, About.com

Born: February 25, 1985
High School: Lawrenceville Prep (NJ)
Hometown: New York, NY
College: University of Florida
Position: Power Forward
Height: 6'11"
Weight: 227 lbs.
Class: Junior

Positives:

Noah is a natural leader and he leads by example. He has a non-stop motor and always moves without the ball. He has great arm length, which he utilizes to grab boards despite not being as physically strong as others. Noah is a solid ball handler and has excellent court vision. He can finish on breaks and dribble past his man on offense if he faces up. Noah is the epitome of mentally tough.

Negatives:

Looking at Noah, it's easy to see he'll need to fill out that musculature more to bang with the big boys of the NBA. He can be overly aggressive at times, which leads to unneccessary fouls. Noah needs to work on back to the basket moves down low, as well as his shooting form from the perimeter.

Overview:

Noah is a winner and he'll bring a winning attitude to whatever team he ends up with. He needs to work on his offense, but his big-time effort on every play will make an impact even if he doesn't score a point in a game. If he had entered the draft after Florida's first NCAA Championship, he would have undoubtedly been the first overall pick. Noah's impact his rookie season will probably be more by his intangibles, but if it's not noticed in the boxscore, it'll be noticed when you watch him play.
