NBA Draft Player Profile - Josh McRoberts

Josh McRoberts

By Dennis Velasco, About.com

Born: March 1, 1987
High School: Carmel
Hometown: Carmel, IN
College: Duke University
Position: Power Forward
Height: 6'10"
Weight: 240 lbs.
Class: Sophomore

Positives:

McRoberts has very good size and is very mobile. He can finish on the break and has good post moves. McRoberts is an excellent passer thanks to his court vision and has some range on his jumper. Defensively, he has very quick hands and can slap the ball out of the offensive player's hands as well as play passing lanes because of his quickness. McRoberts is a hard-nosed player.

Negatives:

He can sometimes get distracted with physical play, throwing off his focus for the game at hand. McRoberts still needs to work on his post moves, especially for the NBA. Should work on strengthening his base as he doesn't box out well or deny opposing offensive post players position down low.

Overview:

McRoberts has the collegiate pedigree coming from Duke University, but that doesn't always translate well at the next level. If he gets the chance to play as a rookie, he'll be a good backup and could have a long career as such. McRoberts doesn't scream superstar, but if he ends up having a 15-year career, he won't mind.
