NBA Draft Player Profile - Julian Wright

Julian Wright

By Dennis Velasco, About.com

Born: May 22, 1987
High School: Homewood
Hometown: Flossmoor, IL
College: University of Kansas
Position: SF
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Class: Sophomore

Positives:

What everyone is most impressed by with Wright is his ability to pass, but not just a nice basic pass to an open man, but a highlight type pass. Obviously, he has excellent court vision and is as unselfish as they come. Wright has very good handle, is quick, athletic and is an excellent defender thanks to his long arms and lateral movement.

Negatives:

Wright can disappear from games sometimes because he isn't as aggressive or consistent as he could be. He has upside, but he definitely needs to work on his shooting and add some upper body strength to bang with the big boys on the NBA level.

Overview:

Wright could take a bit of time to develop to his full potential and would probably develop best if he's allowed to make his mistakes. He's a tough player and wouldn't let a bad performance keep him down. Again, there is some upside here and whomever drafts him could reap huge benefits in a couple of seasons.
