Strengths

Mayo has been a highly-touted ball player for a long time. I'm talking since middle school when he routinely would make players several years older than Mayo look, well, stupid.

Mayo can do everything on the court. He is more apt to take the ball to the hole, utilizing a first step that leaves defenders in the dust. And if met with resistance at the rim, Mayo is still able to get his shot off. However, you can't fall asleep on his jumper as he's able to hit it consistently. If you're defending Mayo, you need to pick your poison. Either way, it isn't good. Mayo is an unstoppable one-on-one player with above average strength, especially for a point guard.

He is very athletic and quick. He possesses the ability and talent to lockdown players on defense thanks in part to the aforementioned athleticism and quickness, as well as foot speed.

There is a perception that Mayo is not easy to coach because of how easy the game comes to him, but this is a misconception. Mayo is coachable and should do well in adapting his game at the next level.

Weaknesses

Sometimes Mayo gets tunnel vision and wants to break down the whole defense by himself. Granted, he can get on a hot streak, but as the point guard, he needs to remember his teammates. He can sometimes get too enamored with the three-point shot.

Mayo has been hyped for a long time to a high degree, which sets a certain amount of expectations. It would be difficult for anyone, unless your name is LeBron James, to meet them, so expectations should be tempered and Mayo should not overextend himself to meet them as it will affect his game.
