The 2008 NBA All-Star Three-Point Shootout Contest takes place on Saturday, February 16th at New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, LA. The following players will be competing for title of NBA Slam Dunk Champion:
- Jason Kapono - Toronto Raptors
- Kobe Bryant - Los Angeles Lakers
- Daniel Gibson - Cleveland Cavaliers
- Richard Hamilton - Detroit Pistons
- Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns
- Peja Stojakovic - New Orleans Hornets
Kapono is the defending long-range champion and hopes to beat out some heavy duty shooters and scorers in this field of competitors. The presence of Bryant and Nash adds some extra weight to this year's competition, as well as the inclusion of former champion Stojakovic who will be a hometown favorite. NOTE: Due to injury, Bryant had to drop out of the contest. Dallas Mavericks forward and 2006-07 regular season MVP, Dirk Nowitzki replaced Bryant.
