Background:

Howard received many accolades in high school, including the 2003-04 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award. He chose to enter the 2004 NBA Draft rather than play in college, although it was a tough decision for him. Howard, a devout Christian, is family-oriented and one of the humblest players in the league. Although, Howard still has that youthful exuberance.

His Career Thus Far:

Howard became the youngest player (20 years old) to average a double-double (14.7 ppg/12.3 rpg) in the NBA during his rookie season. He is already a dominant rebounder in the league, leading the league in total rebounds for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons. Offensively, Howard continues to improve his moves down in the low block and his high field goal percentage is proof of that.

Howard played for Team USA in 2006, and will be a key to the United States' gold medal hopes in 2008. Howard and his game have been compared to the likes of Kevin Garnett and Moses Malone.
