Background:
Before entering the NBA, Allen took his team to a high school state championship. Then Allen enjoyed as much success as a college basketball player. He was a First Team All-American and Big East Player of the Year in his final college season.
Allen played the role of "Jesus Shuttlesworth" in the film He Got Game (1998), co-starring with Denzel Washington and directed by Spike Lee. In the film, Allen plays a high school basketball player from Coney Island, New York torn between what to do next as he wonders about his incarcerated father, the faithfulness of his girlfriend, and which college to attend.
His Career Thus Far:
Allen is one the all-time great shooters thanks to a sweet form on his shot. From the free-throw line or behind the arc, Allens shooting stroke is pure. Consistently scoring more than 20 points a game, he has been a perennial All-Star and is always a threat to win the leagues three-point contest whenever he enters, as well as the regular season title for most makes and average threes made per game.
During the 2002-03 season, Allen was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Seattle SuperSonics in a deal that involved Gary Payton. He set a NBA record for three-point field goals made in a season in the 2005-06 season with 269 made.
