The Answer Pepes
With the NCAA Tournament exposing us to the top talent in the college game, give us a current college player at each position (PG, SG, SF, PF, C) that you think will have the most success at the NBA level. Any overrated players you see destined for the D-League?
Dan: This is a tough one for me. Let's just say I wouldn't make a good scout. I knew Amare Stoudemire was going to be a monster in the NBA but also thought that Adam Morrison would make a bigger splash than he did. This is going to sound really cheesy but I have to agree with the AP All-American vote. Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Arron Afflalo, Alando Tucker and Acie Law. Regarding over-rated players, it's hard to say who will make it in the NBA and who won't. I think a lot comes down to pure talent but more and more there seems to be a place in the NBA for guys who have a good work-ethic and want to strive to improve themselves every day. For instance, the Suns drafted Steve Nash 15th and were booed for selecting him. But look at the improvements he's made.
Dave: I dont know enough about the college game to comment definitively in a national publication but I will offer a general observation: with all of the strong, young big-man talent rumored to be out there could this year begin a revival in the pivot/post-starved NBA?
Ryan:
- PG: Aaron Brooks or Ty Lawson
- SG: Arron Afflalo
- SF: Julian Wright
- PF: Al Horford
- C: Roy Hibbert
